2003 Jeep Liberty 3.7 from North America

Summary:

A Lemon

Faults:

Vibration in the steering wheel when traveling between 58 and 70mph I have had it serviced 4 times for this problem. The fourth time was checked by a Daimler-Chrysler from the Northeast Business Center. He told me that the Liberty operates as designed. That I wasn't the first nor will be the last to complain about vibration in the Liberty. He said all Jeep Liberty's have vibration that cannot be fixed. He went on to tell me not to drive at those speeds and you won't feel the vibration.

I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4, I do not have any vibration at all and I have had the car for about 5 months. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, the vibration problem is only a minor thing. Just remember, it ALWAYS could be worse.

I own a 2002 jeep liberty, the problem that I have is that the suspension seams to be sprung. it like driving a vehicle with 300000km on it. I live in Labrador, and have 300km of dirt road (route 500) on either side of me before I reach pavement. It is very dis-hearting to drive this rig over the road. Nearly every pothole she bottoms out, even little dips are rough. I have talked to my dealer, he informed me that he has never heard of this problem, but he is going to check with the engineering dept. to see what he can come up with.

2003 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7L V6 from North America

Summary:

A lot of bang for your buck!!!

Faults:

Would not go into reverse after 4x4 first used. Switched from 4x4 to 4x2 a few times. After driving short distances in each, no further problems.

General Comments:

Overall, I really do love my Liberty.

It handles exceptionally well.

Good fuel economy considering it is a V6 automatic.

Lovely design - inside and out.

Quiet drive and fun to drive too!

Great basic stereo system and 6 disc in-dash CD player!

Could use a bit more pickup on hills.

But, very heavy vehicle so sluggish performance expected at times.

Seats are also not as comfortable as had hoped.

2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.1 from North America

Summary:

Glad I made this purchase

Faults:

Faulty torque converter from factory. The transmission went only after having the vehicle one week. The dealer had the Jeep for a entire week. The dealer also tried to get out of giving me a loaner vehicle because I did not purchase the extended warranty. We had to contact the salesman and only after he talked to the service department and sales manager, did they agree to rent me a loaner vehicle. I still don't like the way it shifts into first. It often clunks into a hard shift, but I recently drove with a co-worker who has a new Chrysler minivan and that vehicle shifts the same way. I am told by the dealer that that is the way the new engines run - they are all the same even after comparing mine to others on the lot. All in All - I love my Liberty - it is FUN to drive.

General Comments:

This vehicle is heavy enough to feel safe, yet small enough to go anywhere. Its fun to drive.

2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4 3.7L V6 from North America

Summary:

Best decision I've ever made

Faults:

Nothing bad has happened yet. Hopefully nothing bad will happen for a very long time.

General Comments:

The 3.7L V6 is great. It's powerful, quiet considering and the vehicle itself has a great ride considering it's a truck. It's great on and off road. The 4x4 is incredible especially in the 4lo range. It hauls like a tank at that point.

The exhaust note has a growl to it and the gas mileage, though it's not like a car or even some of its direct competitors, is not all that bad. I actually get 2 mpg better in the city and 1 better on the highway than its posted consumption.

Unlike many of the competitors out there, this vehicle is built on a chassis designed for it and is not a modified car chassis (Such as the CR/V or RAV4). It's incredibly solid and quiet.
