2002 Kia Sedona LX review from North America

"High performance at a low price"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This vehicle was purchased without any defects or problems.

The paint appears to be on the thin side, much like the Chrysler PT Cruiser.

General comments?

The 2002 KIA Sedona is my third van in less than five years. It has comparable standard features to my others, but cost a fraction of the price. The value for the money is unequaled.

The ride is extremely quiet for a large vehicle. Wind noise is minimal, and the V6 engine is hardly heard, even at stops. Again, for the price the Sedona stands alone.

Basic maintenance is easily accessible. Oil changes are a breeze with easy access to the necessary locations. Engine parts are clearly marked, even for the most inexperienced of the do-it-yourselfers.

Interior comfort is outstanding. Seats are well constructed, and the upholstery is generously spread throughout the entire car. Places where plastic usually dominates the domestic cars, is replaced by cloth. This touch makes the car much more comfortable to the eye and the touch.

The exterior is nothing out of the normal. The lines are appealing, and draw the eye from a rise in the back, to a dive at the nose. It is purely cosmetic, and works well in making the van appear to be aerodynamic. The colors that KIA has offered, are all very appealing to the eye.

Performance is the key to the value of the Sedona. The V6 engine and the five speed transmission are unheard of in this class of vehicle. A manual overdrive button gives the Sedona enough power to enter even the most hectic of highways. Considering the price, no other van can match it.

It took Honda a few years to get from a company that made cheap cars, to a company that made good cars and sold them cheaply. KIA appears to be at that point themselves. The 2002 KIA Sedona could well be the springboard for a line of cars that will satisfy drivers that need quality and value. I congratulate KIA for working so hard to get a vehicle that meets both requirements now.
