2001 Oldsmobile Alero LX review from North America
"I cannot believe that some of these problems are not built in by GM"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At approximately 5,000 miles - entire dashboard had to be replaced and radio controls would not hold stations chosen. Covered by warranty.
8,000 miles - latch to hold back seats upright had to be replaced. Covered by warranty.
20,000 miles - battery had to be replaced because it was leaking acid - Not covered by warranty.
22,000 mile - front brakes had to be replaced - I was told that my back brakes had about 10,000 miles left on them! Not covered by warranty.
22,500 miles - left front hub assembly had to be replaced - $450!!! Warranty had been expired for four weeks!!!
General comments?
This is the first American car I've had in 25 years - and it will definitely be my last! I have had more problems in one year than I have ever had with Nissan cars in five years!
I had my Nissan 200SX for 12 years and had no major problems. Naturally, the normal worn out battery and worn tires - but nothing like the problems I've encountered with this Olds Alero.
