2004 Peugeot 206 CC 1.6 gasoline from Korea

Summary:

Worthy for the money

Faults:

Not yet.

General Comments:

This car is quite maneuverable and response drivers intention quite accurately.

Bought directly from local dealership.

Driver seat space acceptable.

Rear seat is absolutely for kids under age 10.

Tiptronic lever response with a half step delay.

Trip computer display works fine.

Ridiculous emergency light button (It's the largest one I've ever seen.)

At D lever position, transmission solenoid valve hummms like mosquito.

Steering wheel is very, very hard to turn even urban lumberjack like me.

Anyway This is a fun and pretty car with resonable price.

(In Seoul, it costs about US$ 25,000)

I presented it to my wife for birthday present and she loves it.

2004 Peugeot 206 GTi 180 2.0 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

I want 2, it's that good

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car at this stage. A couple of minor irritations are a constant metal on metal sound from the brakes when rolling, this is caused by a build up of dust, and very occasionally there's a delay in starting the engine. The ignition turns over for a little bit.

Also when the car went in for its 1500km check up a leak was found in a ring on the power steering hose. This was replaced straight away with no prompting from me.

General Comments:

So far the car has been brilliant. The handling is absolutely awesome. I wasn't looking for comfort when I bought it, if I had been I would be slightly disappointed by the very firm ride. Considering the car's purpose though, the ride is more than acceptable.

I'm a bit concerned about the fuel economy. The official figures seem to be better than my old 1.8 306, but so far I seem to be using more than that. OK, I have been having some fun, but I used to do that in the 306 too. I'm hoping that as the engine runs in economy will improve.

I managed to pick up a speeding ticket on the first day I had the car. Since then I may have had a few pictures taken, too. So performance isn't an issue. The only thing I would change is the power below 2500rpm. It's very hard to take off quickly from the lights, which can be an issue if your lane ends shortly after an intersection. Maybe I need to get used to the clutch.

The car gets lots of looks. I'm not used to having a vehicle that other people want, but it is an ego boost having people trying to get a closer look at the badge on the back. That being said, only car buffs really know what they're looking at.

Punto hgt is quicker than this!

Punto HGT will leak, overheat, need new radiators, need new steering column support, etc etc etc...

Both depreciate like nothing on earth.

Mg zs 180 will demolish both of these without straining at all. i'v come from behind a pug 180 and left him behind.

2004 Peugeot 206 Coupe Cabriolet 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An expensive mistake

Faults:

Oil indicator has never worked properly and always flashes too much oil, too little oil or electrical fault. Dealer has now tried to fix four times without success.

Roof has started to leak.

Rear electric window jams half way up and then front window shuts instead.

Engine loses power for no reason.

Engine has now started to 'pink'.

Ignition did not recognise key and engine would not start.

Major problem with handling and suspension. When roof is down car shakes and judders violently and feels unstable. Dealer changed front wheel bearings to no effect.

Noise from windows rattling is now becoming unbearable.

Central locking button on dash is beginning to become defective.

General Comments:

My dream car is going horribly wrong. Spent too much time back at dealers already.

Suspension is far too rigid with roof down.

Car looks wonderful, but inside lurks a disaster.

When you say your car loses power do you mean as in there's no power for a couple of seconds and all of a sudden the power comes back. I own a Renault Scenic 1.6i 16v it can lose power and then it will come back all of a sudden.
