2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE 2.2L from North America

Summary:

Best car for the price Super reliable

Faults:

I think this is the most reliable car in it class.

The only minor thing I have ever had go wrong was the catalytic converter was going bad. That was at around 45000 miles, but it is covered by Pontiac until 75000 miles so all diagnostics and repairs were free.

The only cosmetic flaw is the "buttons" on the seat belts have come off twice, but again Pontiac replaced then no charge.

General Comments:

I bought the car brand new and have loved it since day one. The manual transmission gives it more passing (pick up) power and it is easy to shift (could be done with one finger) Sound system is great for being factory. I love this car I have driven it across the country 3 times with no problem. One time we drove it 1750 miles straight only stopping for gas and it did great no problems (and the gas was only $70.00!!! at 1.75/ gallon)

The local dealership here in great falls Montana is wonderful, much better than the one in Ohio from which I purchased the car. My only minor complaint is the room inside (or lack there of). I have 2 small children so have much need to trade it in (i have the coupe) but am in total termoil that I'll get a lemon next time. Really wish Pontiac mad an affordable SUV!!!

No offence, but my Civic takes 35 dollars to fill, lasts for 700kms, and is nick named old reliable. To find a Sunfire that is deemed "reliable" is one in a million.

I agree totally. The Sunfire is a good car for a first time driver, and does handle very well. I just recently traded in my 2000 Toyota Echo for it. I was tired of looking like an "old fart". My Sunfire has been to the shop once since I got it, and that was for the oil pan gasket leaking. They replaced it within an hour, and I was on my way to Tennessee again before I knew it. The bad thing is.. my car is Victory Red, has chrome wheels, and a sunroof. Cops love me. I guess I just have to get used to driving a more exciting looking car.

I agree. I got one for my first car and I'm only seventeen. I love it and it has had less problems than any of my other friends cars. Gas is expensive, but I love the look and how it handles.
