2001 Pontiac Sunfire SE 2.2L from North America

Summary:

Piece of junk

Faults:

I must say this has got to be the worst car I have ever owned. I have had numerous mechanical problems with the cooling system. The thermostat has gone bad three times I had to replace cracked head gasket. Radiator cracked. I will never buy an American car again this is the second American car I had and the first car was worst then this one.

2001 Pontiac Sunfire SEDAN 2.2 from North America

Summary:

A bargain car

Faults:

The cluster in the dash board.

The struts broke first week.

General Comments:

This car was something I thought would last at least 5 years, I recently just graduated college. I was pleased with my car at first. I can't beleive pontiac makes an affordable car and don't push the extended warranty... I know now why pay for your own problems. Make someone else pay.

2001 Pontiac Sunfire SLX 2.2L from North America

Summary:

The best of everything in one package!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with it at all.

General Comments:

The Pontiac Sunfire has to be the best car I've ever owned. The performance from the 2.2L engine is excellent for only 115 horsepower. I like having the traction control, it really seems to help on slick surfaces. The interior is cool, the seats are comfortable and the stereo rocks. This is my second one and I love it so much. My compliments to GM for making such a great car.

UPDATE ON CAR:

Still Nothing wrong with car, however Mr. Lube almost destroyed my engine. First off they put in the wrong oil and while I was traveling over the Port Mann Bridge (Vancouver, BC) the engine was starting to act weird so I coasted over to a mechanics shop and they said all the oil came out of the car, so they put the right oil in, that cost me money as well. Then the next day it was doing the same thing, so I went back there and they said that it did the same thing and as it turns out that Mr. Lube put in the wrong oil filter which caused all the oil to come out. Thank god I didn't have to get a new engine, so they mechanic put in the right one and it was all better. I went back to Mr. Lube and told them what happened and how mad I was and demanded that they reimburse me for their service and pay for the mechanic that I went to. They refused and when I threatened to take them to court the person went to the manager and the manager said that they would send me a cheque in the mail. Well after 3 months of nagging I finally got the money. I was not pleased, do not ever take your car to get repaired at Mr. Lube, they don't know how to work on cars and I found that they overcharge for their service, I did a comparison of different service places when I was taking it for my next oil change. I hope that no other person goes through what I went through. The car has around 54,000 Kms )(33,750 Mi) on it and it's still running wonderfully.

I just got a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, it is my 2nd car. I absolutely love it. No complaints since May so far my last car had given me trouble by this point. It is small, but fast. Perfect for me. It run so smooth also and is comfortable inside. If you want a used car this is a winner.

I own a 2001 Sunfire SLX, had it for the last 2 1/2 years got it at 78 000 km and it's now at 155 000 km.

Nothing went wrong with it except the back top plate of the shocks.

In my circle of friends we now have 10 different Sunfires, different years no one has major problems.

We do change the oil when recommended. I just think maintaining the car is very important... Like any other car.

I own a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire SLX. Bought new. Only has 79k as of April 2008

I love my car.

Got it with extended warranty, which expired in 2006. Luckily I had it inspected by my dealership 1 month prior to expiry, or else I would have been stuck with a huge bill later down the road. They found a problem with the head gasket.

Other than that everything else was in top shape.
