2004 Saturn VUE FWD V6 from North America

Summary:

The Vue is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned

Faults:

The only negative comment I can make about the Vue is that the driver heated seat went out at roughly 105k miles.

General Comments:

I am going on 130k miles and have had no problems with my 2004 Vue. Truth be known, it is probably the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

I went with the 17" wheel option and have only had to replace two so far - though I am getting ready to replace the 2nd pair.

Have only had to perform routine maintenance on the car - still have the original brakes & headlights.

It seems the mileage should be better, but can't complain at 21-22mpg hwy.

2004 Saturn VUE from North America

Summary:

Complete lemon

Faults:

39K miles, Ignition control module was replaced ($200)

41K miles, slave cylinder & clutch went out ($1200)

44K miles, engine leaking gas and had to replace fuel rail for another $300.

'Check Engine' light has been on for over a year and no one can figure out why.

Makes a mysterious squeaking noise after shutting the vehicle off.

General Comments:

It's comfortable.

Looks cute.

Cheap to buy but very expensive to maintain.

2004 Saturn VUE 2.2L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

The Vue is a nice vehicle. A little loud inside, but nice

Faults:

Had some issues with fit and finish like the window seal on the driver door would not fully seal and make popping noises on windy days. It's been replaced twice. The rear wiper motor failed and was replaced. The strut mounts were replaced because they "creaked" a little bit when turning. Lastly, the power window switches were replaced because one of the switches would stick occasionally.

All these repairs were under warranty. I've had no major problems wit this car and am happy with it.

General Comments:

I have to say after reading the comments on this website that some people expect cars to run without problems for over 100,000 miles. I'm sorry to say, but a car is a complicated piece of machinery. You can't blame the manufacturer because your wear items start to fail at 80K+ miles. It's silly talk. I hear comments like, "my car's strut is failing at 85,000 miles. I'll never buy another Saturn again..." What nonsense... If you plan to keep the car past 50K miles, expect wear items to fail. Now, if the engine fails or wear items are failing before 50K miles, then you have a valid point to be upset.

I'm just tired of hearing people complain about a car expecting things will never break over time. Grow up.

2004 Saturn VUE V6 AWD from North America

Summary:

Crap!

Faults:

I go through brake pads like CRAZY and have replaced the rotors twice (due to the dealer telling me the brake pads were still OK).

The car gets progressively louder every few months.

The seats squeak like on a school bus and I find them uncomfortable on long rides.

There's horrible wind noise from the windows.

You can barely hear the radio when sitting in the back seat because the speakers are by your feet. I thought my kids were crazy when they kept saying "put the music louder" until I had to sit in the back myself.

I've put at least $3,000 into this car on repairs, but can't think of all of them right now.

General Comments:

No more Saturns for me. Honda's, Toyota's or other foreign cars for me!

2004 Saturn VUE 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Love it. Wish I could buy a brand new one

Faults:

Repaired front sway bar links under warranty. I paid to have them replaced again at about 40,000 miles. Only about $130.

General Comments:

Very quick engine. Very nice vehicle. Only major complaints or small design features of the cockpit. (not much padding on the armrest, not enough storage in the center console). And I believe they changed those on the new models.

2004 Saturn VUE red line 2.5 from North America

Summary:

Great, reliable car

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I have the 2004 Saturn Vue Red line v6, I know that a lot of people have had bad experiences with the Vue and with Saturn in general and I know a lot of people who love Saturn, I have owned this car for over a year and I love it, I have never had any problems with it at all. The AC blows ice cold, the seat warmers work well, the dvd player works, all electrical components work, It drives well, it shifts great, fast acceleration. There is nothing that has gone wrong with it at all, I have had to perform nothing other that routine maintenance to it. I think that it gets great gas mileage.. Don't be scared off by bad reviews because you are going to find bad reviews on every car that there is in this world, no matter what car it is there is always going to be someone who hates it, I would definantly recommend this SUV to other people, for the price you can't beat it. I have no complaints at all with this vehicle. In fact I love it way more than my Honda civic which had major problems all the time. and everyone thinks that honda builds a good reliable car, but I actually had a bad experience with that car.
