1998 Vauxhall Omega 2.5 v6 elite 2.5 from UK and Ireland

All in all this is a very fast, comfortable and classy motor that is well worth the money

Battery failed in the first week (replaced).

Radio would not code (replaced).

Bose amp stopped working three days later (still trying to find one).

Drivers heated seat not heating.

Air-con needed to be regassed at £65.May be leaking?.

Very bad juddering from front end on braking at above 50mph

2 bulbs not working on climate control unit, can't seem to get dials out to replace them. (not a big problem).

Very small coolant leak, can't find where from. (top up weekly).

The cruise control is not working, (to investigate).

General Comments:

This car has full history and has been looked after.

The only problem with the bodywork is a small blister on the top of the drivers door and knuckle marks on the bonnet where some ape has pushed it down.

Before buying the Omega I spent a lot of time looking at what to buy and what was good value for money, the same spec in a Merc, BMW or an Audi would have cost upward of £8000.

Way more than the £1600 I paid for a car with full leather, climate, air con, cruise etc, etc, etc.

The front end juddering is probably warped brake discs and the best option is replacement of both the discs and the pads.

That is daylight robbery!!! Why can't we get such a wonderful car in T&T at such a give away price? Lucky you mate. The wear and tear doesn't sound too bad for the age of the vehicle and the price.

Added by the owner.

Bose amp found on e-bay for £30, also got a trafficmaster system for £9 and a spare remote and key for £12. Had brakes checked the problem with the judder was because the front wheel was not sitting right on the hub (judder has gone). Found more paperwork saying complete exhaust system (genuine) and 2 new parelli P6000 tyre's were fitted 300 mile before I got the car.

Love Omegas. My previous car was a 3.0L version, rammed up the rear, and written off. Now have a Rover V6 75 top spec, nav., the lot (51).

If you don't like your Omega 3.0L (W onwards), let's swap.

1998 Vauxhall Omega GLS (AC) 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Very comfy better MPG than V6!!

Dash display needed replacing as most of the bulbs had blown and gauges not working.

Idle valve needed replacing due to poor idle.

Fuel gauge (in tank sensor replaced)

Camcover gasket leaking, replaced myself using haynes manual.

General Comments:

Very comfy car ideal for long distances. All the problems above were wrong with the car when I brought it. I did not notice any of them on test drive!! Realy comfy seats and driving position, the AC works realy well and its got all the electrics that you need. I have fitted 17" alloys to it with 225/45/17 tyres which has improved the handling, but the ride is still good. I have noticed some wheel vibration recently and have found (garage found!) that the N/S/F steering idler is worn to excess which is prob causing play and vibration. I am getting this replaced £53 for the part.

1998 Vauxhall Omega Elite 2.5 V6 from UK and Ireland

Top of the range at more than half price

I have had to have the tracking done twice, New tyre's (very expensive big rubbers), Front wishbones, and Exhaust manifold gaskets.

General Comments:

Excellent car to drive, The model I had was the elite with all the extras going, But very heavy on fuel we got about 20 to the gallon.
