1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 1LE review from North America
"A race car with econo pricing"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The only thing that I have had gone wrong with it is the Day Time Running Lights/blinkers have shorted out, but covered under the warranty.
General comments?
I bought this car looking for a fast car with low mileage. What I got was a out of the box factory race car. The 1LE is a rare (1/48) option package that is mainly upgrades to the suspension (adjustable Koni both front and back, stiffer springs, etc) but it makes the car handle like a dream. I have test driven Mustangs and T/As and this is the car that made you feel the most "in control". Also the 6 speed Borg Warner tranny is hard running.
I race my car about every weekend in SCCA events and it gets run VERY hard. I also have driven across country several times in it and the seats provide as comfortable a ride as you can expect from a sports car.
Just a word of advice. Put your wallet in the armrest because driving with your wallet in your backpocket does hurt.
