2002 Buick Rendezvous awd 6 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Wish it was reliable

Faults:

I add my tale of woe. First really nice car I ever had. Can fit the whole family (6) in it. Have had the A/C condenser go out. Have had memory chip for seats go out 3x's. Had chip which controlled AWD go out. Tires don't wear well. Looking at my 2nd set since I purchased the car. Now I'm looking at the fact that it eats a quart of oil every 300 miles.

It's a nice car, but my garage knows me by name...

General Comments:

Nice design and creature comforts without having to buy a Lexus.

2002 was the first year for the R'vous. One should always be leery of buying a first-year model from ANY OEM. I just did a fairly detailed study of consumer opinions on the R'vous for model years 2002-2005, 4 years. 2002 was, hands down, the worst year. 2003+ were dramatically more reliable, though not perfect; but name me a perfectly reliable car.

2002 Buick Rendezvous from North America

Summary:

Very disappointed

Faults:

ABS PUMP leaks.

Radio, and lights interior and exterior going on and off randomly for no reason.

Several episodes of the vehicle not wanting to restart after several stops and starts or on inclines.

Loud groaning noises from front wheel bearings.

Uneven tire wear.

Breaking of all inside plastics such as vents and switches.

Window regulator on driver side breaks.

All of these problems started at or around 60,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is proportioned very well for its size and is great on gas mileage for a bigger size family with a smaller income... But don't let it fool you... Because it does have lots of faults which in turn will turn out to be a money pit for you. You will get no help form Buick as you can see from myself and all other owners of this car. Very sad for Buick!

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX from North America

Summary:

It is a pile of junk!

Faults:

Recall on security system. Recall on loading door catch. Body control module had to be replaced. Head gasket replaced. Brake pads gone. Back springs both broken in same place. Arms above springs both needed replacing. Knob for adjusting front seat fell off and replacement knob falls off also. Even GM does not want it back. Offered $9,000 for trade in. Engine hood had to be repainted. Driven by retired lady. All major expenses have occurred since warranty expired.

General Comments:

Like the looks and ride, but scared to use it.

2002 Buick Rendezvous cxl 6 from North America

Summary:

I hate it, it sucks and GM should fix all the problems that they know it has wrong it

Faults:

Wheel bearings needed replaced 3 times. Brake rotors replaced 3 times. Needs Calipers rebuilt. Burns 1 qt oil every 3000 miles, antifreeze leverl low and smells like it is coming out of tail pipe, replaced AC condenser unit, makes humming noise in rear end when turning (sounds like it is low on power steering fluid, but noise comes from back of car)

General Comments:

Very comfortable, seats the whole family with ease, hate the the rear hatch, needs to be opened with the key fob or button on dash. Why not have a handle to open the rear hatch? Hate the huge gap between the hood and the wind shield. It collects leaves int he fall and packs with snow in the winter. The 4wd system stinks and the car is not reliable at all.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL from North America

Faults:

I have had problems with the ABS braking system since 22,000 miles. After replacing wheel bearings, hub systems and a wire module, they were fine for a while. Now the car has 60,000 miles on it and they are acting up again.

They have replaced another rear hub assembly and the problem is still there. They think it might be the computer chip that runs the ABS braking system, but will not replace it until they find "more evidence".

I am very unhappy with Buick and will never buy another car from them. Too bad because I love the Rendezvous for comfort.

I've gotten excellent gas mileage and have enjoyed the car, although I did have problems with the air conditioner (condenser) and an oil leak. Fortunately all has been covered by the warranty. I'd be broke if I hadn't bought the extended one. It has just been very inconvenient. When are the American's going to get it right???
