General Comments:

This has been a wonderful car to own to date with one small issue, Daewoo has folded. My issues with my brakes were due to a bad mechanic and not the vehicle. I would advise anyone who owns one of these cars to cut your loses and trade this car in NOW!!! Replacement parts for it are few and far between. There is no prescribed Dealer support for this Make of cars any more.

Remember, it is hard to trade in a car that does not run...

I bought a new Laganza CDX in August 2000. I didn't know at the time of purchase that Daewoo was in bankruptcy proceedings... nor did my dealer make any mention of it to me. I have been having ongoing problems for over a year with the car missing, stalling and stopping. While the dealership has been somewhat helpful on the fifth/sixth time in to repair this intermittent problem, there has been no solution as of this date. Daewoo techs don't seem to understand the problem and are unable to make suggestions to repair it. The car only has 30,000 miles on it now, and the problem started a long time before that.

2000 Daewoo Leganza SX 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

An expensive-looking, solid car for peanuts

Faults:

As soon as we bought it, one of the lines went bad on the air conditioning. This caused water to condensate within the air conditioner which caused a musty smell in the car. Fixed under warranty.

At 52,000 miles, alternator went out. The dealership was barely able to get a new one and it cost $300 for the parts and labor, since the warranty expired at 36,000 miles. Dealership did not let me use a loaner car, which was very inconvenient and disappointing since it is our only car.

General Comments:

Drives like a BMW.

The leather used on the seats is very durable.

A joy to drive, lots of power for a 4 cylinder.

A comfortable family car.

2000 Daewoo Leganza from North America

Summary:

Owners of Daewoo may be in trouble

Faults:

This letter to Daewoo explains the problem best. I wish it was just a technical problem.

I had a flat tire today and called the number for roadside assistance. There was no message except that the number was not in service. I then called the number in my service book and was directed to yet another number. During this time I was standing out side in 95-100 degree weather now late for a meeting. The last Daewoo number I called directed me through a series of button pushing straight into voice mail. Three hours with no response I called back and spoke with an operator to find out that the roadside assistance was not being offered anymore. I left a message with her to have someone call me. As an owner of this vehicle I was told I would have roadside assistance. This was included with the car.. I am very disapointed with Daewoo and not having received any notice that this service as well as other services are discontinued. If I had known I would have made other arrangements and been better prepared. I understand you have declared bankruptcy and I plan to notify owners of Daewoo vehicles about the current situation.

2000 Daewoo Leganza SX 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Luxury you can afford

Faults:

Cam Sensor caused the check engine light to come on at 2000 miles. The sensor was replaced free under warranty and took only 1/2 hour to replace.

Moisture formed inside one headlamp at 30000 miles and was replaced free by dealer under factory warranty. The headlamp took only 3 days to be delivered to the dealer and was installed in less than 1/2 hour.

General Comments:

The Daewoo Leganza is a fine quality automobile and is sold at a very good price.

The car is smooth and powerful and gets excellent gas mileage. My city mileage is always 25 or 26 m.p.g. and my highway mileage averages between 31 and 35 depending on use of air conditioning.

Oil changes, tune-up, and brakes have all been free under warranty.

Everyone comments on how nice the car looks and they can't believe it's a Daewoo.

We liked the car so well we bought 2!!
