1994 Dodge Intrepid from North America

Summary:

This is a reliable car

Faults:

When the car get up to 30mph it shakes really bad and the odometer goes haywire.

It feels as though I'm riding on railroad tracks or graved payment.

However once the speed is over 30, the shaking stops and the car ride is like sailing.

The paint and clear finish has come off in many areas.

I had to repaint the entire car.

General Comments:

No other major problems.

Seats are comfortable.

Great pickup.

1994 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.3 from North America

Summary:

The best car Dodge ever built

Faults:

Transmission was replaced at about 50000 miles.

Ac compressor was replaced at about 90000 miles.

Tie rod ends have been replaced twice.

Complete suspension was replaced although not bad to include new springs, struts, and wheel bearings at 109000 miles.

Interior was thoroughly cleaned at 100000 miles.

Oil changes were done at 3000-mile intervals.

General Comments:

I never beat this car. It did however go through 3 kids getting their license. And it still runs great after 11 years. I will continue to drive it anyplace. The engine has never had any work done to it. The engine not having a timing belt is a plus. Never had a starter or alternator. I will paint it next year. This is a great car.

1994 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5 from North America

Faults:

The air conditioning stopped working had it repaired and the following year the same thing it stopped working. I didn't bother to get it repaired again. I guess any car after so many years would need a paint job. The power window on the passenger side is slow. The headlamps were made poorly by the manufacturer they are probably the worse headlights made. I need to replace them it is difficult to see at night.

General Comments:

This car has lots of room seats are comfortable. The car drives smoothly and comfortably. The Dodge Intrepid ES is a big car, but I was surprised it isn't a gas hog. I didn't want to get rid of my car, but my husband said I need a newer model I am attached to my green car. I bought another Intrepid RT model. If I had it my way I would have kept my old car why because it was a good car for me.

1994 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L from North America

Summary:

I bought a lemon

Faults:

Motor "gummed" up at approximately 79,000 miles. Cost $1500 to re-build.

Speed sensor bad at 115000 miles.

Timing chain loosened - beat up cover.

General Comments:

Car handles wonderfully & has a very comfortable ride.

However, have had major motor problems. Had to re-build at 79,000 miles. No warning of impending problems. Motor started ticking - oil on dip stick showed o.k. Within 2 miles of that, timing chain started beating against cover. Stopped car. When pulled timing chain cover, saw first evidence of oil problem - "gummed" up on EVERYTHING. Had to totally re-build motor. Motor had had regular oil & filter changes, but looked like it had never been changed at all.

1994 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 from North America

Summary:

A piece of garbage. No wonder the value is so low

Faults:

When I first bought the car at 83,000 miles, the engine blew. It had to be replaced.

The tie rods had to be replaced at 86,000 miles.

The transmission doesn't change gears when the car is cold in the morning. It has to warm up for at least 15 minutes before I can put it into reverse or drive.

The car rumbles when accelerating slowly between 25-40 MPH. It seems like the transmission is slipping.

The gages stopped working at 100,000 miles. The gas gage needle runs up and down by itself, even if the tank is filled.

The rear sway bar is not working properly as the rear of the car sways from side to side when hitting a bump on a turn.

The driver power seat is not working properly. It doesn't lean back all the way.

The water pump is leaking, and causes the car to overheat. it was replaced at 102,000 miles.

Continuous problems with the A/C. The compressor was replaced and there is a freon leak.

General Comments:

The car is fast. That is about it. Every other comment I have would be negative.

I agree the intrepid is indeed garbage. I look forward to pushing mine off a cliff or setting it on fire. Mine currently gets 8mpg and is ruining my life. The transmission went at 94,000, the exhaust system at at 100,000. The car randomly over heats and no one can figure out why. on top of everything the oil stick broke and I can't check my oil. I'm buying a new civic today. no amount of stress is worth spent on garbage. However at 134,000 it has no rust.
