1998 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 360 from North America

Summary:

The truck was great

Faults:

Have had two dodge ram trucks, 4x4 360. Last truck was great. Blew the transmission at 135000 when I pulled a 12000 pound trailer, with a 4500 pound jeep on it. (Stupid) Sold the truck with 159000, after replacing the tranny. Never had any other problems, and I'm not easy on my trucks. My newer truck had 67000 on it when I bought it, put 12000 miles on it in two months. Truck runs great. Don't really know what you people are doing, or not doing (maintenance) to your trucks, but I have never experienced any of these problems you speak of. Little preventive maintenance goes a long way. Good luck.

General Comments:

Great truck. Dodge could have the 360 put out a little more power.

1998 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Laramie SLT 5.9L Gasoline from North America

Summary:

A great truck that I'd let my own daughter drive

Faults:

My water pump went out at 115000 miles. (bad bearing).

Nothing else.

General Comments:

This truck is great! I get 20 miles a gallon on the freeway and around 15 in the city. I don't know what all these people are doing to their trucks that get <12mpg.

This truck is fast. Just last night I was driving home and some teenage kid pulled up next to me in his little tuner car. I blew that kid away in a truck other folks seem to think is a dog.

Comfort? Very comfortable! My Chevy 1500 was never this comfortable. I could sleep in my truck if I was in enough trouble with the wife. I love it, my wife loves it, my daughter loves it, my family and friends think it's great!

Handles very well. I just had an alignment done because it pulled to the right a bit. This truck corners very well! I don't drive gently all the time and it handles it for me when I'm don't. We own 5 acres of land with a house and such in Michigan, which is on a dirt road. This truck handles dirt and gravel like it's brand new pavement.

I haven't pulled anything, but I have hauled stuff. For example I put 1000 miles on it the first weekend I owned it by moving our entire house with only the truck. I also hauled 2000lbs of mulch for my mother (1000lbs per load). The engine had no problem pulling the truck load limit at a half ton. Did very well actually!

That's all I can really think of to say. I'll update this as things come up. Now they need to make a site where I can review my wife's spending habits... hahaha...

I agree I had a 98 Dodge Ram, mine was the sport, but it was loaded with everything. It was as you say very comfortable and fast. I was, however, one of the people who got less than 12 miles to the gallon. It is the one vehicle I still wish I had.

1998 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 5.2 from North America

Summary:

Best truck ever made

Faults:

92,000 tpu sensor replaced.

167,000 rebuilt transmission.

170,000 right front bearing bad.

199,000 fuel pump sending unit went bad.

General Comments:

1st mopar truck -- I love this truck -- she has never left me at the side of the road.

I don't like the body style of the newer Dodge trucks. I love this style and the longevity of my truck. I have people all the time who cannot believe that the truck is a 1998 model year 4x4.

Take care of your truck and your truck will take of you.

1998 Dodge Ram Pickup dodge 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 5.9L from North America

Summary:

Don't buy a dodge unless you own a Oil refinery

Faults:

Power steering box seals leak.

Water pump and timing chain went at 241,000.

Both front wheel bearing gone.

U-joints on front axle replaced twice now.

Heater core replaced.

Fuel pump replaced.

Right upper ball joint and sway bar link ends replaced.

Second set of tires now since purchased.

Second set of Brakes front and rear replaced.

Shocks have been replaced.

General Comments:

The truck was all Highway driven previous to my buying it no Bush miles at all.

Cab was big and spacious to my Toyota 4x4 as I have two boys who like to go out doors a lot.

Truck has lots of Power, but fuel economy suffers big time.

Have been eating the cost of fuel, but as gas rises in price will have to give it back to Lee Ia coca cannot afford to drive in the bush anymore.

Its been a reliable truck once all the repairs were taken care of.
