1989 Ford Bronco II XLT review from North America

"The best vehicle ever produced"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The clutch went out, I had it repaired by the dealer at cost.

The C-V drive-shaft has broken twice, once due to dealer incompetence when repairing the clutch.

The alternator failed, resulting in a "Found on round dead" situation.

Wind shield leak due to stereo system modifications.

Minor brake failures, non-dangerous.

It was stolen, but that was my fault for leaving the keys in it. I'd like to thank the Myrtle Beach P.D. for returning it more or less unharmed.

General comments?

The Ford Bronco II XLT Model is a marvel of engineering. With the 2.9 liter fuel injected engine, acceleration remains quick while fuel economy is maintained. With proper aftermarket tires, wheels and shocks installed, the Twin I-beam front suspension allows for tight cornering at mid-range speeds with manageable control. The experienced driver can definitely have a home inside the spacious four passenger cabin.

Steering wheel tilt, intermediate wiper settings, electric door locks and windows, air conditioning, hydraulic clutch, rear anti-lock brakes and other such high tech features make the XLT a luxurious, affordable, and powerful passenger vehicle.

Four the other part of the population, the tight ratio warn transfer case powered four-wheel drive system teamed up with the Ford signature suspension system make for a very unique vehicle. Safer, softer, and more versatile than Jeeps, the Bronco II was definitely a breed of its own.
