1994 Ford Probe SE review from North America
"Attractive looks, but lousy performance!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine was replaced at 54,000 miles. It was my brothers fault for not checking the oil.
Transmission went bad shortly after that, but I ran it until the very end at 89,000 in July 2003.
Transmission replaced, and at the same time the mass airflow senor went out.
Trunk will not stay up because the supports are too weak.
Transmission o/d off light came on Christmas day of 2003, about 5 months after I had the transmission replaced!
Transmission ready to go out again any time at 100,000 miles.
General comments?
Very attractive car, it is definitely an head turner!
Interior is relatively comfortable, as long as you are in the front seat.
Very large trunk capacity for a hatchback.
Very unreliable, the CD4-E transmission is crap. If you decide to get a probe get a GT model with the 4EAT transmission or any model with a manual transmission.
If you own one, and the o/d light starts blinking, I advise you to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Otherwise you may be stuck with it for a long time, and an expensive time at that.
This car dents extremely easily, and the paint scratches just as easily.
Sexy, but a lemon!
