1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 from North America

Summary:

This is the most problematic car I have ever owned

Faults:

I bought the car at 61600 miles and 200 miles later the belt tensionar broke off and caused the engine to overheat and the engine blew. At 62800 miles and one month later the starter went out. And one month later at 63250 the heater core went out and I have no heat, the dealership wants me to pay another 1000.00 dollars to replace it.

General Comments:

I hate this car and will never buy another Ford.

I owned a 1999 Taurus Wagon that was the biggest piece of crap I had ever owned. Thank god I was able to trade it off.

Within one month of buying it new, I started having electrical problems. If I tried to roll the electric windows down the radio would flicker on then off. Had to have to radio/climate control system replaced twice (they are built together into one unit). Even after that if you had the AC on and hit a bump it would blow hot air out until you turned it off then back on.

The steering rack went bad at 30,000 miles and had to be replaced. The dealership would keep the car for a few days, and send it back to us with the same problems, never having fixed them. They told us we were being to picky, and that all new cars have a few bugs with them. Overall I am very disappointed with Ford and their dealerships.

Summary:

It is a very costly car to repair and requires a lot of repairs

Faults:

In 2003, I had to replace the rack and pinion.

In 2005, I had to replace the starter AND fly-wheel.

General Comments:

My Geo Metro was far more reliable than the Tauras.

Maybe 90,000 is when the car falls apart?

I have a nagging issue that my local mechanic cannot fix. While driving down the expressway the transmission simply cuts out. The engine is running, everything is running fine, except the wheels are NOT accelerating.

I had a semi riding my tail and honking at me as my car slowly came to a stop. NICE CAR. Almost killed me.

If you see a 98 taurus on the lot with over 90,000 miles, AVOID IT. The transmission issue is NOT noticeable on a casual drive. You will only see it after driving 20-30 minutes on the expressway.

I hope this site still open for suggestion for the future..

I bought this Ford Taurus 1999 of December.. The year Ford Taurus 1999..I was not for the first time, but after months and months I started noticing that the windshield wiper is really not working every time you turn left or turn right.. It driving me crazy.. How can I tell the Ford Taurus dealer it's a defect no one well believed it..

Then my Trunk is not working.. for years..so I've been using the inside to open my trunk..

Then in 2003 of October after I paid the Jeffy Lube $220.00 (wow what a charges) for all oil changed and cleaning.. my oil pan gasket is failing.. I have few minutes to fix it or it well damage the engine.. Then July 2005 I changed my oil pan gasket again.. any ideas..

Is there anymore defective parts I haven't heard from Ford Taurus? Its not right..

I sent and call so many times from customer relations.. they said they well fix it.. in 2000 until now still not resolve.. " I was there to change oil changed.. and they guy made me sign all the paper work.. no clue I thought its covered for my warranty, but its not.. Mechanics made me paid up to $450.00 for maintenance including oil change.." I was upset that day.. I contacted the customer relations.. until now never resolved.. the question when..

Thank you for reading...
