MAJOR RUST BUCKET, this car has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.

Poor performance and acceleration.

Engine ran horrible and would would not idle in cold weather.

Engine would not start below 20 degrees fahrenheit, dealer refuses to cover under warranty.

Brake rotors warped many times.

Sheet metal on car is to thin, like a soda can. You can almost dent it by looking at it.

Exhaust smelled like puke, rotten eggs, hot diesel, and dog crap. So much for hondas "clean for the environment image"

General Comments:

Honda's are cheap, overrated pieces of Japanese garbage. I'd rather buy a Yugo than buy honda. There was nothing good about this car. it sat in the shop more than it was on the road. I will never buy a rice burner again. If want want a reliable, fuel efficient car, get something other than Honda! GM, Ford and Chrysler will save you and your wallet a lot of heartache and pain!

The truth hurts.

I agree with everything the reviewer said - it is absolutely true!!! My first honda was a piece of crap, and I made the mistake of replacing it with a newer honda - it too is a piece of junk (only bigger). These are cheaply built tin cans that fall apart easily and very costly to repair. Performance stinks. MPG is disappointing for 4 cylinder - my SUV gets same mpg. Very boring to drive. Over rated imported junk. Will never waste my money on these cars again.

1994 Honda Accord ES Auto 2.0i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Loyal and reliable - with a touch of class

Faults:

Occasional head and brake light bulbs.

General Comments:

I have loved everything about owning this car!

It is luxurious, smooth and reliable. The novelty and pleasure of driving the 25 miles to and from work each day haven't begun to wear off!

It steadfastly refuses to develop any faults or display any signs of ageing. It still has no rattles, and the engine feels tight, new and responsive. The leather seats are wearing well, the air conditioning and ABS work superbly.

For a Japanese car, it even looks quite good, with a lovely sleek profile.

The only down sides are servicing (comparatively expensive), and fuel consumption (a little thirsty).

I agree that this car is an acceptable vehicle. The styling is good. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The size of the vehicle seems just right - not too big or too small. The power is adequate. Front visibility is extremely good with its wide windshield, while in the rear it is poor. When backing up into a parking spot, you cannot see the rear of the car and tend to crunch the bumper often, which ruins the finish on it. I have mixed feelings about the reliability of Honda's (owned 3 so far). All have exhibited the same type of problems. It always seems to start and road breakdowns are rare, but some things on the vehicle don't hold up very well. The exhaust system needs frequent replacement as it rusts out. The brakes need constant repair to keep them in good condition. Then there is the standard wheel bearings and water pump that will need replacement. The metal body panels are too thin and dent easily. You would expect a parking lot door ding to nick the paint, but on this car you will have a noticeable dimple or dent. Rust forms along the rear wheel wells eventually on all these cars.

The Honda Accord is a good vehicle, but somewhat overrated. If you're looking for a reliable vehicle to get you to and fro, it will not disappoint, however, be prepared to shell out some serious bucks when something goes wrong. Parts and some labor charges can be pricey.
