2000 Honda Accord LX from North America

Faulty transmission, Honda Canada refused to pay to have it replaced and denied my extra warranty (7yr or 160 000km).

Also, the SRS light comes on along with the Maintenance Reqd light which turn off my radio every other minute. You feel like the vehicle will simply die on you.

I had to replace the alternator, the A/C unit was shot early on-luckily, that was covered by the warranty. Now, the EGR valve nonsense.

General Comments:

I have been happy with my accord until this EGR crap. I think Honda should replace every one of these problems. It isn't our fault they built the car wrong. The whole 8 years or 80,000 miles extended warranty for this EGR thing is annoying. How much does this fix cost anyway? I guess I will have to head over to Honda. I brought my car to a Firestone service place (Highly recommended) and they found this EGR code on the diagnostic. Fun times. I don't think I would buy another Accord. I am thinking Camry next time...

Did you know the reason the EGR needs to be replaced is because the sensor is dirty? The sensor should be replaced and cleaned, but not at a Honda dealer. They charger 650 bucks at the dealer, which probably translates to less than half that at an independent shop.

I have 160,000 miles on my V6 Accord, and have replaced the alternator once, and now the EGR will be replaced tomorrow. I think the EGR is maintenance in my book because it is obviously clogged or dirty.

BTW you will not find anymore pleasure in a Camry, as it is as vanilla as japanese cars go. I test drove many Camrys, and even have relatives with them, and they are boring as ever, and the Accord offers more sport, especially with a manual.

I have a 2000 Accord that had the SRS light on. I replaced the catalytic converter in January at the dealership for 800.00. Replaced the starter in July.

The car leaks water through the windshield, and burns oil faster than I can change it. No leaks, and the car has been bone dry on several occasions.

The car hesitates when taking off; may need a new transmission. I've only had the car one year.

Poorly maintained to the extreme. I have owned some new hondas that were never maintained and they had less maintenance. I must admit though there is something with the SRS system having to do with the seat belt, etc. I don't even think the dealer knows how to fix it. Better off going to an independent repair shop if the dealer charges an arm and a leg.

This review offered no valid information to speak of as the "owner" did not even specify which engine they had and did not bother to select ratings for performance, dealer service, etc. This sounds like mudslinging to me.

Happy with car, but very surprised it is causing all these problems at once

Wheels started wiggling

Muffler at 100K Kilometres

Check engine light on at 120K

Oil leak at 130K

Air conditioning leak at 130K.

General Comments:

I loved the Honda Accord. The last 6 months have been a drag as I am constantly taking it in to the garage. After spending $3,000 in the last 6 months, and knowing that I'll have to spend at least a thousand five hundred to fix the current problems, it is now time to move on. The problems keep mounting.

It has been a treat to own for the last 7 years though, and I was hoping it would continue to last at least 3 more. I live in Canada and I have no rust issues so that is good.

Sorry to see it go, but it is time.
