1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Totally Worth The Money I payed

Faults:

When accelerating to above 65 mph a shimmy does occur, but it quickly subsides as it adjusts to your speed.

General Comments:

I love the way it drives, it handles great on both off road trails and tarred roads.

1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 4.0L six cylinder High Output from North America

Summary:

A rock solid reliable SUV. It's a shame it's not made anymore

Faults:

Firstly, this is the second Jeep Cherokee we've owned. The other being a 1990 Cherokee Laredo. Same engine, etc. The engine on these Jeeps are as good as it gets. Reliable and relatively trouble free if you maintain them correctly. With Both Jeeps, cooling has been the issue. And undersized cross flow radiator is not sufficant to cool in temperatures exceeding 95 degrees. The is the only real expense we've had maintenance wise is replacing radiators on both.

General Comments:

The Cherokee Sport is not as well built a vehicle, finish wise, as the Laredo was. The trim in the interior is chintzy and easily breaks as opposed to the Laredo which still looked new when we sold it with 200,000 miles on it.

The performance is better with peppier acceleration with the high output engine. But needs premium fuel for best performance and mileage as did the older 1990 Laredo.

1994 Jeep Cherokee SE 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Gets the job done

Faults:

Water pump went at 85000 miles

Steering stabilizer shock had to be replaced at 87000

New thermostat had to be installed at 87000, but that's normal.

General Comments:

Jeep has horrible acceleration, even after injectors/fuel lines/spark plugs/plug wires have been replaced or cleaned.

Handling was never that good in rain/snow.

I find it puzzling that you have problems with acceleration in your Jeep. My experience with both of mine, both of which were well over 200,000 miles when we sold them, was they were fantastic with acceleration. Ours would burn the tires off and hand you the rims.

1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4 Litre from North America

Summary:

Indestructible truck built to last

Faults:

Radiator hose became disconnected due to the failing of the clamp. Resulted in the purchase of a new engine belt.

Breaks are very touchy after truck has sat for hours, something to get checked out soon.

LOW WASHER light flickers, but not like that is anything to complain about :P.

General Comments:

I did a lot of research on jeeps upon discovering they are almost indestructible. Being a college kid I was looking for something that would last many years.

The truck is in immaculate condition. Being 2wd it still handles decently off-road :P The only scratches are the ones I have put on recently. The 5spd is wonderful, giving great acceleration. You can't complain about the ride of a jeep, that's like expecting a cavalier to be a race car. Looking forward to buying from Jeep in the future.

1994 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 liter Straight 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A ride worth the money

Faults:

The water pump went at about 109,000 miles. Serpentine belt went at about the same time. Brakes and rotors went at about 120,000 miles. General maintenance such as, Plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, filters, etc.

General Comments:

The rear suspension is a little weak, but for the most part, it tows really well. It has really good power. Lots of torque, and picks up speed pretty fast. For the most part, parts are pretty cheap. A tune up costs next to nothing. The four wheel drive, when engaged, makes a kind of squealing noise, but works great.

1994 Jeep Cherokee xj 4.0 h.o. from North America

Summary:

A low budget, high performance s.u.v

Faults:

The battery was replaced at about 144,000 miles.

The alternator replaced about the same time as the starter.

The starter just recently replaced.

Tracking arm replaced around 142,000 miles due to a collision with a guardrail.

General Comments:

The Jeep Cherokee XJ is a very dependable, economical vehicle.

It has been very dependable in the amount of time I have owned it.

Only requiring general maintenance, such as oil changing, filters, tune ups etc.

I am very pleased with the torque, horsepower output of the i-6 4.0 liter H.O., definitely suitable when coupled with the 3:73:1 rear end ratio.

I recommend the vehicle to anyone looking for a dependable, yet sporty vehicle in the s.u.v. field.

I believe it will truly be missed by Jeep loves throughout the world.
