I have had no problems at all with this car!
The 2.4L Sunfire is a quick little four cylinder car. Not at all sluggish, and has no problems reaching interstate speed.
For a small car, the Sunfire is also quite comfortable. Even the back seat, which you would expect to be cramped, is adequate for two adults.
The factory installed 6 speaker sound system sounds much better than many factory systems.
The Sunfire coupe is fun to drive! It is gas efficient, sporty, and with a few easy modifications you can get a lot of admiring looks!
I fully agree with this review. I have just inherited this car from my son with about 100,000 miles on it. Apart from a non functioning cruise control it drives well accelerates briskly, and above all is comfortable; inspite of my advancing age, (70), Once in it is a grand machine, mind you getting out is also an excerise in ingenuity, but so is getting on and off my motorbike! I am also impressed with it's fuel consumption; much better than I expected. An all around good car - looks goood too!
My friend has a 2.2L 4-door and he gets 35+ mpg and is pretty quick. He let me drive it and I couldnt believe how good it handled and how sensitive the brakes were. Last time we went to the gas station, he put $20 in the tank and the needle was over the full sign. GREAT GAS ECONOMY. I am actually going to buy one in the future, preferably the GT, or 2.4L TWIN CAM for that little extra boost.
I own a 2001 sunfire I put exhaust, intake, and a killer sound system in it. I raced a few times so far I beat a supercharged mazda and a escort on a quarter of a mile. Now I'm gettin an eclipse gst turbo!!! Girlie girl racing yall!! my sunfire is a beast long live turbo.
I am looking for a Sunfire for some economical commuting. Anyone have real measured MPG figures for a manual trans?
These comments about performance and racing are amusing - when did the automotive world start considering 4 cylinder mazdas, escorts, and sunfires as performance cars??
