I don't recall all the mileage to every repair, But here is a list:
The same #2 plug, uncountable times.
2 batteries.
1 alternator.
4 sets of head light (bulbs)
2 headlight switches (on the steering column)
1 v-belt.
2 seals (right under the top half of the engine, head gasket?)
At least 25 pairs of front brake pads, unknown, still unsolved braking issue.
1 (soon to be 2) sensor on the rear brakes.
With every turn she keeps costing me money!!
I think she was/is a lemon!
The brake pad issue could be that the caliper pistons and housings need cleaning.
If they're dirty, the brakes tend to stay on lightly after each application and wear rapidly.
Funny that you mention brake pads. I recently bought a 98 Sunfire (in July) and I have had to change my front brake pads once so far, but they are already squeaky starting to sound squeaky again. I'm wondering if it'll happen again..
I have had a 1998 Sunfire GT for 2 years now and have also had countless problems with the front brakes. That must be something with this car. I never knew other people were having the same problem. Also, right now I am changing the manual transmission in it.
After my third trip to the repair shop for passenger side brakes and "Locked" calipers I replaced the hose myself (Repair shops said it looked good) and no more brake wear.
I looked this up on the internet and found several comments that the hose "kinks" on the inside. Evidently the hose is made up of 2 parts, a rubber inside and a tough outer shell. The outer shell can look like new, but inside it may be kinked.
Like 10 bucks at rockauto.com. You will have to bleed or have the brakes bled after changing the hose.
