2001 Saturn L300 from North America

Summary:

Horrible, horrible, horrible

Faults:

I bought a Saturn L300 in January of this year, and the Saturn dealership will not answer my questions. My car is very hard to start, sometimes it won't start at all. All it does is crank and crank, but will not catch. I had to find the problem myself by going online and finding the recall on the ignition module.

Also somehow my alarms sounds got silenced and my alarm was set off, with me not being able to hear it, the alarm system locked my car and I cannot get back in it until the Saturn dealer resets the system. I love this car because it is very nice inside and out, but the love isn't worth all these problems.

General Comments:

Has a very nice appearance, but too many problems.

2001 Saturn L300 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Looking for a car that is fast and fun? This is a true review of my Saturn L300 2001

Faults:

MAF sensor had to be replaced, which cost me $120.00.

General Comments:

Are you kidding me? I have a Saturn L300 V6 3.0 liter engine, and I am a mechanic and have been in the field for a while now. This car has never had any major problems yet. My Saturn has been taken care of as scheduled up to date with being maintained, it runs strong and it's fast enough to get up to 121mph, and is capable of doing more with mods.

Did not mention I have a friend with a 4 cylinder Porsche sports car with a turbo, and he beat me from 0-80, and I passed him and beat him from 80 on up with race one. Race two I beat him, and he caught up a little bit, but when my Saturn kicked into 3rd gear, it left him in the dirt again.

For those of you who are having coolant problems, you are using the wrong coolant, the right coolant is the global all around universal type.

In August of 2009, we purchased a used 2005 Saturn L300 with about 65K on it for our youngest college girl. We have been very pleased with it so far. Rides smooth and drives like new! Upon purchase, we had the brakes checked, radiator flushed, tires rotated and oil changed. Current mileage is 70, 221. It is not due for an oil change until 72,011. Today, the change oil light came on for 30 seconds upon starting engine, then went off and stayed off until it was again started. All other gauges read normal. Is this just a reminder that a change is due soon, or should I get it in to be looked at?

2001 Saturn L300 from North America

Summary:

Horrible waste of my hard earned money!!!

Faults:

This car has been a nightmare, haven't even had it a year and already put about $2000 in it.

Fuel pump went out, then a seal, then the entire computer to the engine went out, which was a $500 part, and now it's running horrible that it's cold out. The reduced power light is on again, this is the light that came on when the computer went out and I wasn't able to accelerate, got to go 8 miles per hour all the way to the shop! Also the service light is on. I don't want to waste any more money on this car, but see no choice.

If you are considering buying one, I would think again, I got fooled by how great it ran on test drive and the pretty bells and whistles... don't make the same mistake!

I couldn't possibly agree with you more. My father's a mechanic and has totally agreed that this car is a nightmare. I bought in during 1/05. It's been a downward spiral since it hit 60K. It now has 97K on it.

I've had the following either replaced or repaired: Sway Bar Link, Wheel Bearings, Tires (5x!!!), Computer Module, Water Pump, Coil Pack, all 4 Struts, Fan Belt & Body Control Module. I had the Catalytic Converter hollowed out (to save $$$$). And now I need new Motor Mounts!!! Grrrr!!! Yours Truly... Perry Hall, MD.
