General Comments:

The most reliable, trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. 94,000 miles and never needed anything replaced except for battery and tires. I would not have hesitated to drive it around the world. More reliable than a refrigerator. Or an atomic clock. Still had original brake pads. Still looked like new inside and out. Only thing I ever did was change the oil, wash it and put gas in it.

The only reason I got rid of it was because it was the most boring car I have ever driven. I firmly believe if I would have kept it, that thing would have easily gone another 100k miles without any problems. I literally wanted to fall asleep every time I drove it. I don't know how they did it, but Toyota managed to make a car that had no feeling or involvement whatsoever. It was a highly competent car, and it was smooth in every way. The engine was so smooth you couldn't really tell if the car was turned on or not.

The perfect car for people who want the most reliable, trouble free transportation to get them from point A to point B.

Faults:

- Front wheel bearings.

- Stock exhaust manifold.

- Thermostat housing.

General Comments:

A no thrills car really. Whilst not the flashest cars, the engine and gearbox have been super reliable. I have taken it on trips that consist of 1800km on four occasions without a problem. On one of those occasions, the wheel bearings were worn so it wasn't the most pleasant, but with cruise control it's very easy to get where you need to go.

Biggest downfalls of the car will have to be the brakes aren't as responsive as some modern cars, the interior is not flashy but is comfy, the stock exhaust manifold warped and I had to replace it with an aftermarket pair of extractors which rub against the gearbox, so under load create an annoying noise.

All in all, if you are student or traveller looking for something reliable, I seriously recommend this car.

I have replaced the radio aerial.

And also the coolant bottle.

General Comments:

This is a great car for a family. It has everything I want in a car.

Faults:

Water pump failed at 174,000. Independent shop replaced pump, thermostat, timing belt, hoses and fan belt for just over $700. I DIY oil changes every 3K.

Check engine light stays on. Independent shop put test unit on it & said the EGR valve is bad. Said this is common on this gen of Camry's & EGR is not really bad. Car starts & runs perfect, gets 28MPG in city driving, passes Arizona emission, just ignore the idiot light.

Some clunks & rattles from rear suspension due to wear & tear. Solution: Turn up radio.

General Comments:

Excellent (made in Japan) car. Carfax showed this car had been routinely serviced with no major issues. This is my daily commuter car. If you want performance, then this is not the car for you.

But it gets great mileage, is comfortable, is super dependable, and has the coldest A/C of any car I've ever been in. I live in Arizona, and it is HOT here. Cold A/C is very important, ranks up there with good brakes.

Maybe the problems with other Camry's are due to poor maintenance or where they were built.

If this car was stolen or wrecked, I would try to find it, rebuild it, or buy another well maintained Camry.
