So far nothing. One minor detail was on the 2nd day of owning the car, when you put the transmission in drive, then took your foot off the brake, it would jerk its way into drive. Only did it on the second day, no more problems. I think the transmission was just "breaking in"
Love the power. I went with an automatic because it was getting to be too hard to work a manual clutch in all this freekin traffic where I live (North Carolina) and all the idiots who can't drive. Going from a 4 cylinder to a 6 makes a big difference. The Power is well worth giving up some gas mileage.
My only complaints are: The glove box is too small (can't even put the owners manual in it, The car has a very bad blind spot (no big deal just listen for the other guys horn!), and on the 2002 model on the back window was a piece of plastic on the dead center and very bottom of the glass. This was used to putting your hands on it when you close it as to avoid finger prints. On the 2003 they took it off? Why??? I hate it after every time I wash it somebody gets finger prints all over the glass trying to close it.
A neat little trick I learned the other day about newer model Chrysler cars is, there is a way to check your cars computer for error codes, rather than paying through the nose for a mechanic to hook up one of their tools to it. This only works on Chryslers with the digital odometer and trip meter. Simply go into the car, hold down the trip reset button, put the keys in and turn the car to RUN (not START) Run is when the dashboard lights up and everything comes on except the engine. The let go of the trip reset button, and the car will begin to cycle through a bunch of numbers. 111111, 222222, 333333, 444444, etc, etc... At the same time the Needles on the tachometer, the speedometer, the gas gage, and the temp. gage will move up and down all the way. Once this is done the car will show you its serial number, then if any error codes have been saved in the computers memory it will show them to. Write these down quick b/c it doesn't stay up long. After a couple of seconds the dashboard will light back up again and start chimeing, then everything is back to normal.
The website I found with all of Chryslers codes on it is: www.ptcruizer.com/computer-codes.html.
I am very satisfyed with my Jeep. I, on the other hand had a very nice experience with my Chrysler dealer. very friendly caring people. I have friends who have bought from them and have been very satisfied with their purchase and have not had any problem with them standing you to their warranty.
I want to update on my review. I recently (last week) got to use 4wd for the first time snow. Or ever for that matter :-). One word, WOW! I could not believe how well it did in the snow. I was doing 40 mph in 6 inches or slushy went snow with a layer of ice underneath it. It felt like I was on dry pavement. It WOULD NOT let me spin the wheels. I was trying to have some fun in my neighborhood and show off my jeep, but it would not let me spin the wheels in 4wd!! I had to put it back in 2wd drive to do that. That just proves to me how good of a 4wd system Jeep makes. My favorite was when I was passing 4 cylinder Rav4's and CRV's having a hard time making it up about a 1ยบ incline. They were spinning their wheels out of control and weaving in and out of my lane. As I passed them, I gave the driver that "You should have bought a Jeep" wave. I am very happy with my Jeep. I'm hooked!
I know how you feel. That feeling you get in your Jeep when passing other SUVs in the snow is awesome.
Welcome to the family!
Hey I just wanted to tell you that there is a little slot in the glove department for the owner's Manuel. The book fits perfect there. When you open it you will see it..it's a cut out from the dash. Just wanted to let you know:)!
I noticed that slot in the glove box, problem is my dealer gave me a couple of maintenance books along with my manual and put them in book that is just big enough that you have to pound it in to that slot, and sometimes the glovebox will not close. I'd take it out and just put the owners manual in it, but in that same book is where I keep a copy of all of my maintenance papers just incase something goes wrong.
Just thought I'd add another update to my review.
I will have had this Jeep a year on July 19th 2004. So far, not one recall (which is odd considering my last car, a FORD) and not one MAJOR issue in the first 12,000 miles. The only real one is the noisy brakes. Just yesterday the computer (where the odometer and trip meter are) started flashing "LOWASH". This is the only sort of anything I have had to add to the Jeep. (there are a lot of bugs in my area and using the washer fluid is a regular thing around here). She goes great in the snow and off road. As a matter of fact, for her birthday I am probably going to take her off road since she seems to like it so much. My one biggest complaint is that the brakes are a little weak for a "truck" this heavy. The feel a little weak compared to the other vehicles I've owned. I'm a Jeep fan for life now!
Wanted to post another important update. I got my first recall on my Liberty yesterday 7-9-04 (exactly one year since I purchased it). The recall is for a seal in the rear latch that may be defective. If it is bad, it can let water into the latch and make it where the rear glass opens up on it's own unless the car is locked. I was going to take my Liberty in for an oil change and tire rotation so this came at a good time and I had no problem getting them to do it. As a matter of fact, I was the very first person to bring theirs in for this recall. I was not affected by the ball joint recall. In my letter that came in the mail yesterday it stated that is was SOME of the 2003 and 2004 models. My guess is it is the late 2003 models and the very early 2004 models. ALso while at the dealership I saw the newest version of the Liberty. This one is the Liberty Wagoneer. Yes, it is a woody. I don't really care that much for the woody's, but this one didn't look too bad. Maybe it would look better if it were not white. Also, for the 2004 models they brought back that piece of plastic on the rear glass for putting your hands on when closing the glass. Go figure...
