1993 Dodge Shadow ES Convertible 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Affordable, fast and fun!

Faults:

New tires at 40,000 miles.

Seam in top resown at 40,000 miles.

General Comments:

I lived in the mountains when I owned this car, and it was the perfect car for weekend getaways. Just enough room for me and a friend as well as our luggage, with enough more than power to get up the hills . I also took it on several long trips, and it was very comfortable and reliable. The backseat was big enough for all but the largest person. The 3.0 V6 was a great running engine, and I had no problems with it. It was fun, fun, fun! I wish I did have to sell it a few years ago, and I plan on getting another one next year.

1993 Dodge Shadow 2 door from North America

Summary:

You won't find a better car for the price!

Faults:

- Paint is chipping off in places.

- Head gasket is a little leaky.

- FM radio does not work.

- Tires are almost bald.

- There's a Jesus fish on the back.

General Comments:

Despite a few minor inconveniences from the previous owner, this car runs like a dream! I was amazed as to how well it ran after ten years when I test drove it. It has wonderful acceleration, much more power than you would expect for a car of that size. It is a great car for any purpose, and defiantly makes a GREAT first car. Dodges are easy and cheap to repair, not that I foresee any major problems going with this little beauty. If you are in the market for a great, reliable car, check it out, you will not be disappointed. Buy this car!

Author's "edit":

Two more minor things have gone wrong since I got it. The interior lights stopped working so I can't drive it at night until I can get that fixed.. probably just a fuse bug.. and the transmission is a little jittery.. it probably just needs more transmission fluid. None-the-less I love my car!

General Comments:

Great car for $300.

I have replaced many things, but It's just because that is the way I am about cars. I try to keep my car as close to perfect as possible.

The seats are so comfortable for a base model car.

The rear folding seat is very handy also.

The bin in the dash Holds my cell Phone perfectly.

The motor still has enough power to accelerate going up a hill.

The parts are So cheap it's unbelievable.

1993 Dodge Shadow ES 3.0 Dual overhead cams from North America

Summary:

0-60 in 6.1 seconds my butt, more like 5.4

Faults:

I replaced the front brake pads and rotors when I bought the car.

Not impressed by the stock sound system.

General Comments:

This car is tops in it's class.

I took my shadow to the local short track for spectator drags and toasted a 6-cylinder Beretta driven by a veteran race car driver.

At almost 150,000 miles, I could not have dreamed for better performance out of such a cheap car.

I love the car the way it is, but I really want a true hot rod. My dad has almost talked me into putting the body onto an old Camaro frame and then dropping a Chevy 350 into it.

I'm still not sure it's possible, but we'll find out soon enough I suppose.
