1993 Dodge Shadow Base 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Great reliable first car

Faults:

The head gasket just went at 121000.

The valve cover gasket went at about the same time. Had to replace it anyway when replacing the head gasket.

The right front wheel bearing is just starting to wine at 121000.

The paint is starting to chip on the hood and above the windshield.

Other than normal maintenance that's it.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable car.

This is a fast car for stock. First and second wind out a little to fast and fifth has no balls, but it tops out at about 115-120 mph.

I have had no real problems with this car. It gets about 23 miles to the gallon. The body is in great shape, other than the paint is starting to chip.

This is a great first car.

1993 Dodge Shadow ES Convertible 3.0 V6 from North America

A lot of bang for your buck

Faults:

Replaced tension pulley (Belt slipped off) $175 with labor.

Replaced Windshield (rock from a dump truck hit it at about 120mph) not the car's fault.

Had to sew side seams of the roof.

Freon is running low on the A/C.

Tires will need replacement soon.

General Comments:

Overall this car is great I love it. Its sporty, Fast, still looks great the paint has held up, with frequent washing and waxing, the convertible is a great feature as well. It's a really nice car in short words. I'm sure it will get me through the rest of college and then some. I haven't had any serious problems with her. just your average tune ups and wear and tear that you find in any car...

Anybody think its possible to put a 5.0 V8 or bigger into a 93 shadow es 3.0 v6?

I have a 1993 Dodge Shadow, It's the best car in the world. It is a 4 cyl. 2.2 litre. I always peel out in it, I like to do donuts on the rocks so it can peel out. It is a 4X4, and never gets stuck in the mud. I've had a few problems with the engine not supplying enough pressure to the crankshaft, so it wore the bearings a couple of times. Now I am having problems with the fuel pump, the engine shakes like crazy because it lacks fuel. Eddie.

Well it's NOT "a 4X4", but it could be if you could only get the engine to apply more pressure to the crankshaft. Then you could climb trees with it... and "do donuts" in the sky.

Since Eddies review was in 2005, I might imagine his 4x4 Shadow is now a spirit in the sky doing donuts on the clouds... but only if the fuel pump is fixed.

Well, if he had gotten a Dodge Spirit instead, when he died and they laid him to rest, he could go to the place that's the best (apologies to Norman G.)

General Comments:

Body is shot. Great till about 2003 then paint peel and rusting become a major problem. Car is not pretty to look at, but the engine purrs like kitty.

Lots of the shakes and rattles, but interior is in good as new condition.

Love my shadow, this car owes me nothing and has never left me stranded! My Shadow still has plenty of get up and go!
