1995 Eagle Talon esi 4.0 16v DOHC from North America

Summary:

A good starter car for a kid to teach them how to budget their money

Faults:

Belts, already replaced twice at 110,00 miles and 150,000 miles.

Harmonic balancer replaced at both 110,000 and 150,000, due to no easy removal when replacing belts.

Fogged drivers side headlight lens cover at 110,000 miles.

Shock in hatch does not hold hatch up since 115,000 miles.

Spark plug wires replaced at 150,000, due to constant engine hesitation, not fixed, still hesitates.

Both front and rear upper control arms needed to be replaced at 154,000 along with the bushings.

Front suspension replaced at 154,000 miles.

Rear suspension replaced at 154,000 miles.

Clear coat paint on both outside mirrors flaked off, beginning at 60,000 miles.

Front rack bad at 154,000 miles.

Belts are constantly squalling out loud all the time.

General Comments:

Great gas mileage.

Interior holds up very well and clean with frequent cleaning, the car looks nice on the inside with minimal consistent engine performance and flaking clear coat.

Expensive to maintain in engine and suspension once you hit 150,000 miles. Stick with it, paying a price, or get rid of it and use that money for a down payment on a new car.

1995 Eagle Talon TSI FWD 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

Buy only if you can afford the repairs.

Faults:

The water pump leaked. Had pump and timing belt replaced as recommended by the manufacturer. ($600)

The clutch fluid kept leaking out and the car would not shift into gear. Had the slave cylinder replaced. ($180)

Check engine light came on 60 miles from home at 12:00 am. Engine was running terrible. Two burnt valves replaced. ($850)

The sun roof leaks and has stopped opening. Have not had that fixed.

There is a short in on of the tail lights.

The stock FM stereo fades in and out for no apparent reason.

The interior rattles.

The right rear wish bone suspension makes a metal to metal noise when I hit a bump.

General Comments:

Fast and fun to drive.

Sharp looking.

Terrible reliability.

Poor craftsmanship.

1995 Eagle Talon esi 2.0L DOHC 16v from North America

Summary:

My dream car

Faults:

I bought this amazing car when it had over 200,000km on it, and when I got it, there was some condensation in the driver side headlight.

One of the cylinders for the back hatch was broken, other than that the car was in a considerably good condition compared to how many kilometers was on it.

(There was a very little bit of rust starting to form on the front of the hood).

General Comments:

I love this car more than anything else, it treats me as good as I treat it.

The car moves fast and looks fast, and is great on gas.

I would recommend buying an eagle talon to anybody.

If you show the car love, the car will in turn show you love.

Summary:

Awesome car affordable sports car!!!

Faults:

My check engine light seems to always be on. My mechanic couldn't figure out why it was on.

My passenger door latch broke. It was quite expensive to fix.

This car is tough. I as well got hit in the back end of it and it only left a scratch.

General Comments:

This car is a beautiful car. It still turns heads even when it is dirty. We are looking into buying another.

1995 Eagle Talon TSi 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

Great...BUT longevity?

Faults:

Drivers side headlight cover leaked, water pump at 40,000 miles, slave and master cylinder for transmission began leaking at 70,000 miles, both door windows became loose and rattled and I've had to have them fixed twice on each side.

General Comments:

LOVE this car! Handles like a dream with any road conditions.

Absolutely amazing in snow, rain, and on the beach. Yes, I've taken it on the beach!

Back seats and trunk are useless, re-sale value horrible, and it just started burning oil. Uh-0h!

1995 Eagle Talon 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I would buy another without a second thought

Faults:

My car has been overheating for the last 6 months.

The water light has been on for 2 years, but nothing has been found wrong with anything.

General Comments:

This has been an excellent car, only routine maintenance up to this point. I hate to part with it even though it has a lot of miles on it. Handles well and everything has worn well, still looks new.

I also have a 1995 Talon that overheats, radiator fans do not run when it's hot also temp gage is not indicating. I am in the process of finding the problem, but no luck yet. Anybody???
