2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 from North America

Summary:

Good so far..

Faults:

I really have a nice Lincoln LS. I bought it in Minnesota.

The only thing I hated was it was rear wheel drive in the snow.

Recently it started the misfire stuff. I had it diagnosed. Said the valve cover gasket was leaking oil onto the spark plugs. I was told I need to replace the gasket, coil boots. I am having this done tomorrow.

I just happened to look up (how to replace the gasket and found this site). Other than that it has been a great car. I just hope this will fix the problem. Reading all of these stories has me a little nervous.

2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 V8 from North America

Summary:

The LS is a very good car if you take care of it

Faults:

The LS is a great car.

I have only had two things go wrong with it, and that is the second O2 sensor just went bad a couple months ago, and the back passenger's side window came off the track, but only after someone tried to break into the car by pulling the cracked window down.

But other than that, it runs fine and works fine.

General Comments:

I love this car. I'm not a big fan of Ford, but the LS is a great car.

It runs fine, I get OK gas mileage for a V8, it could have have some more horse power, but it can go pretty quick.

Mine handles very well. I took it around some looping turns the other day doing about 100mph, and it stuck to the ground.

I've read some of these comments on this car from other people, and I think that it really is just bad drivers to tell you the truth. If you don't take care of a car and drive it like crap, it will go to crap, and I think that's what's going on with everyone who complains about the car, because mine is a 2000 with 114,000 miles on it, and it runs like it was brand new.

2001 Lincoln LS 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Rides great, but frequent and expensive repairs

Faults:

Left rear window regulator broke; supported with 2x4.

Front end clunking noise over bumps. Replaced stabilizer bar bushings with aftermarket supply.

Rear mufflers holed out. Ford wanted $1400 for complete replacement unit. Had to replace myself with an aftermarket supply of rear mufflers only ($250.00)

Alternator failed. Had local shop rebuild for $180.00.

Engine misfiring. Replaced 3 coils.

Replaced rotors and disc brake pads.

The steering has an intermittent problem. At times it feels like there is no power assist, more like manual steering. This problem will continue for a couple of days and then disappear. No evidence of fluid loss around pump, steering rack or reservoir. I wonder if it is an electrical issue with the speed sensitive steering?

Recently the air bag light has been illuminating intermittently. I have not checked into this problem yet.

General Comments:

I like the interior and exterior looks of the car. The fit and finish of the interior plastic components could have been better. There are frequent squeaking sounds from the center console.

The incline of the rear seats makes it difficult to install booster and baby seats properly.

The paint and metal components of the car are in perfect shape. Much better longevity than the 2001 F150 exterior, which had numerous rust spots.

2001 Lincoln LS V8 3.9 from North America

Summary:

I love the car, the ride is smooth and the car has the power and look I want

Faults:

I have been a multiple owner of the Lincoln LS, and both cars I love, but both cars have come with their fair share of problems.

I am having a starting issue right now. When I go to start the car, the engine will just crank and crank before the car eventually starts. I have replaced the fuel pump (the main one). I have replaced the fuel filter and I am still having the problem. Sometimes when I have full tank of gas or right after I fill up, the car will start right away. I have the 2002 model with the V8 engine, does anyone have any suggestions?

General Comments:

I would just like to be able to enjoy the car I love without having any issues. I guess we are all paying for the cheap luxury car we have bought. I thought the deal was great, and I was getting a lot of car for my money.
