2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 Liter V8 from North America

Summary:

Worst car I have ever owned

Faults:

Had to replace the alternator 3 months after I bought the car. Cost $500.

Rear window regulator had to be placed 6 months after I bought the car. Cost $250.

New brakes and rotors.

Replace fuel filter twice. Cost $75 each time for a total cost of $150.

Car just went into the dealership this morning for hesitation problem. Diagnoses was valve cover gasket leaking oil extremely bad into spark plug wells and needed replacement; cost $1300 plus the cost of a tune up (new spark plugs, etc.). Total cost $1600.

General Comments:

Overall this has been the most disappointing experience I have ever had in owning a car. Like so many others, I was drawn by the looks of the car, but the repair costs have definitely made me regret ever purchasing this vehicle.

Since I have sunk so much money into it so far, I plan on keeping it a couple more years, then trading it in for a more reliable Japanese nameplate.

Anyone even considering buying one of these cars, should turn and run as fast as possible in the other direction.

It's no wonder the American car manufacturers are losing buyers and can't turn a profit. Their cars are by far the most unreliable on the road.

I have noticed that a lot of the complaints on these cars are common items that need replaced as you use your vehicle.

2001 Lincoln LS 3.0 from North America

Summary:

It's the little and big things that make this car a disappointment

Faults:

At 15K new transmission

At 30K steering wheel (leather) pealed off and replaced, complete set of brakes

At 35K head gasket blew

At 60k coolant leak

At 75K several coils / valves replaced

At 90K third stereo replaced

All above covered by 100k warranty

At 110k Front toe-in ball joins needed replacement needed to order entire assembly $2200.00

At 112k coolant leak in intake manifold $700.00

At 120k transmission out $3500.00

What is this car worth??? In the last 6-8 months 10K miles I spent $6400.00.

General Comments:

Being the first owner of this LS and which I thought at the time was a great deal to have the 100K extended warranty, I am very disappointed with what I thought was a beautiful car.

As you can see above, from the get-go, it had issues.

The car has great features, automatic wipers, lights, dual climate control, nice 6-cd stereo, good handling, nice seats, but at a driving cost way above the competition.

2001 Lincoln LS from North America

Summary:

Love it or hate it

Faults:

Just this week, the transmission had problems. AAMCO checkd it out and confirmed overheating and having problems shifting to R.

Replaced spark plugs and coil packs as malfunctioning gaskets caused a flood of oil.

Had a period of time of leaking cooling fluid, most likely because of overheating and high pressure.

Replaced driver's side window regulator.

Cracked windshield.

General Comments:

I've always liked this car. But it's given me more problems than my other cars, which were Japanese. Now, it handles well, drives smooth, is very comfortable, and is a very powerful car, but I suppose it comes at a price. I'm not trying to spend too much more money on this car as I've already had it for 4 years now.

2001 Lincoln LS V8 from North America

Summary:

This car has some major issues..

Faults:

I started having problems after 8 months.

Transmission pressure solenoid, over heating, coolant reservoir, 3 window motor/regulators, 6 coils, 4 tune ups, replaced gaskets around spark plugs, fogged headlights, throttle body, and a problem with the driver side door locking...

General Comments:

This is the worst car I've owned, and I have owned 12 cars, and currently have 3 others now.

This was my first American car, and it only made me not want another one. I should have purchased that 2004 Maxima instead.

I really had high expectations for this car because of the reviews. I'm down for that court thing.
