2001 Lincoln LS V8 from North America

Summary:

Has been very nice and reliable up to this point

Faults:

Right rear passenger electric window jumped track.

General Comments:

Very comfortable ride.

Handles well and quick acceleration.

Don't like the cup holders.

No serious problems.

Bought the car used, so made a very good deal as the book value had dropped considerably from the new price level.

Would not recommend paying new price value, but would not pay new price for any car.

Gap insurance is if your car is stolen or destroyed. It covers the difference between what you owe on the loan and what your car was worth.

Are you saying you torched your car to avoid paying $2,000 to fix it?

I would have.

2001 Lincoln LS V8 from North America

Summary:

This vehicle is not dependable and will cost you much money

Faults:

Yesterday, my wife went to roll down the driver side window and the regulator broke and the window dropped all the way down and could not be put back up. No telling what this is going to cost to fix. I am attempting to do it myself since the dealer is so expensive.

Also, my check engine light has come on several times. I had it checked at the auto parts store and they tell me that it is misfiring in cylinder 6. The light comes on and goes off every week or so.

I went to push the mileage reset button the other day and the switch broke inside the dash. I had to pull it out and crazy glue it back in.

Above and beyond all that, if this car sits for more tham 15 minutes not running, when I go to start it, it has to turn over for about 10 seconds (long time) before it starts. When it does start, you can smell gasoline strong like it is loading up (flooding).

I think Ford should have a recall on these vehicles, but if they did, they would be closer to bankruptcy than they are right now.

My advice - DO NOT BUY A LINCOLN LS!

It is hard to focus on the good through all the bad.

2001 Lincoln LS Sport V8 V* from North America

Summary:

Average

Faults:

Have for the last year a intermittent burnt oil smell

Dealer has been unable to diagnose

Sport seats are not that comfortable and cushioning is cheap.

General Comments:

In my view car is okay, but was too pricey and I wish I would have bought a lexus or acura.

That will be the next car type.

2001 Lincoln LS Base V6 from North America

Summary:

I wish I had made another car choice

Faults:

My Lincoln has had several minor problems from the headlight fogging (got replaced) to the trimming under the window coming off (got fixed). I have had trouble with the passenger side seat back not staying in place and the back passenger window not coming down. No my driver side door will not open properly. I was stuck in the car for several minutes. I had to let the window and reach on the outside to free myself. I hurried to get that fixed and paid $85.00 to do so, now the same problem is occurring again. I will NEVER buy American made again. Many say that the Lincoln was pre-owned and I should expect some problems. That may be true, but my Nissan was pre-owned as well and I don't have ANY problems with it and it has over 100,000 miles. And the most irritating problem of all is the placement of my cd changer in the glove box. I cannot enjoy a cd with it skipping with every bump in the road. That is poor design. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER LINCOLN!

General Comments:

This car is beautiful, but poorly made.
