Dear Mark 2 Owners.

Owners Manuals:

For those of you looking for Owners Manuals, please try www.jpnz.co.nz for Mark 2 Owners Manuals. The publishers claim that these are translations from the genuine owners manual and other relevant publications.

Fuel Consumption:

As for fuel consumption, here are some tips that may help:

1) Use the correct engine oil (Use Toyota recommended engine oil; 5W-30 or equivalent).

2) Keep your engine tuned at all times, if not already.

3) Keep your tires inflated at the correct level (I believe in a Mark 2 GX 100, this is 33psi (all round)).

4) Use the air-conditioner sparingly.

5) Do not 'rev' the engine unnecessarily, & quick, rapid acceleration lowers fuel economy.

6) Do not modify any part of your vehicle, especially the exhaust and emissions systems.

7) Periodic service is a must!

Hope that helps. Happy motoring.

Best Regards.

Hello guys, I am in the process of getting a 2002 Toyota Mark 2 with the 2500cc, also equipped with navigation. Don't know what to expect. Hope all is good.

Can anyone advise me of any engine problems I should expect. How comfortable is the suspension. I am from the Caribbean (St. Lucia). We have a few down here and I haven't heard anyone complain, in fact everyone loves this car. Please email (mendez_@msn.com)

Hi Guys!

I am Felix E. Staki from Tanzania. I also drive a Toyota Mark II GX 100 of year 1997. Sincerely the car is excellent both on long as well as short trips. I really enjoy it and never regret my decision to buy it.

I have a problem with the owner's manual which is in Japanese language.

I thus humbly request anyone who has an English version of the manual to send it to me through my e-mail fstaki@yahoo.co.uk. (There won't be a problem to me even if the manual is of a later or older version)

Best Regards and enjoy your cruise!

Hello every one.

My name is Prem and I live in Suriname.

I want to buy a Brevis, but I hear that the Brevis has a 2.5 d4 engine, and this engine is not made for Suriname. Can someone please give me some advice? I just love the car.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Mark II owners,

This is a very nice car to own in terms of its room, comfort, speed as well as stability. however I experienced the problem of vibrations in the front wheels at the speed beyond 60km. At first I thought it was a wheel balancing or alignment problem, but it was actually the control arm bushes which were worn out as a result of using rough roads. I had them replaced and this solved the problem. Hope this information will help somebody out there.

Hello All,

I am from Jamaica and I have just purchased a 2001 Mark II Grande. It has the in dash LCD screen, but it is in Japanese and I would really love if someone could assist me, by giving me a site where I could look on the manual or if some one could at least explain to me what the buttons are for. It also has a build in DVD player which is located in the glove box, but it does not work and the owner told me that "he got it that way..." The motor inside the player seems to be working fine, its just that when you do put in a DVD it does not show up on the screen, even when the screen is placed on the TV function. Please somebody, anybody... HELP!!!

Hi everyone.

I have a Mark II 2004 35Th Anv Beams 2000 engine. The car is very fine, but its fuel consumption drives me mad. It gives only 4.5 kilometers per liter in town and only 7 kilometers on the highway. Can any one suggest me how to increase its mileage? And what should be the problem with it.

Currently I am thinking to convert it to CNG. Can any one give me a suggestion what type of CNG conversion will be give the best performance?

My email id is rumel87@yahoo.com

Hello Mark 2 fans!

My husband and I saw a Mark 2 Station Wagon 2002, 2000cc, VVT engine. It 'looks' beautiful but I'm worried about buying it because I have never seen another car like this on the streets of Nairobi. Does this mean that there is a defect with this model? Does anyone know it? Is it good for long distance family journeys, say 500 kms?

Are there other Kenyan owners? Please give us your advice on whether we should go for it or not.

Razz (Nairobi, Kenya)

Hi Raz,

The mark 2 station wagon is pretty much the same vehicle as the sedan, just with a different body. I also live in Nairobi, and I have owned a mark 2 2000 model for the past 2 years. Spares, though not readily available, are still relatively easy to find.

All in all, this is a fabulous car, and even when I do upgrade, you can bet I'll still be in the mark family.

On the 2003 mark 2 grande 35th anniversary limited edition, can anyone tell me what size radiator cap is fitted. 0.9 or 1.1?? Mine is fitted with a 0.9, but it appears small.

1st Mar 2010, 15:47

I have the same model 35th Anniversary car.

The radiator cap should be 1.1. If you use 0.9, water will bubble out from the reservoir. So please use 1.1.

Can anyone tell me how to play the DVD and TV in the 35th anniversary Grande Mark2 2003 Japanese domestic model imported into Singapore?

Hello Ronan Perera.

I just upgraded from a Chaser GX100 because I felt it was not powerful enough. Fuel economy on this engine variant is great. I am now using a Chaser 2001 JZX100 with a stock turbo, engine is 1JZ-GTE. Believe me, it's a road beast, it moves from 0-170km/h in seconds, power is awesome! The only downside is that it guzzles gas to as low as 4.5km per litre, but I guess that's the price for that power.
